Ah, I remember seeing some ingame stuff on a dutch gamesshow once - it really did look promising and the underwater setting is awesome :) BUT when I first saw it I hadn't played prey yet - which is the first thing that popped into mind when I watched the teaser.

The demo is really awesome. I only played it for one time so I'm trying to forget as much as I can before I play the full game.. :)

The demo is out? Man. WHAT HAVE I MISSED

Anyway this game is really really really really interesting. Alas, my PC really really really really sucks so I can't run it yet :(

I think the only demo available right now is the 360 one, correct me if i'm wrong.

Rusty, the 360 game is VERY different from the PC one, at least interface like.

Just sayin that if you get it for PC you'll get the best thing :)

Are you sure about that?  They can make a ton more money on the 360 version so it will probably be the developers top priority.  And the 360 has incredible horsepower when it comes to graphics.

Well, no, not really, you said yourself that there's a difference between the PC and 360 versions - These changes allow the game to be played on both systems in the best way. The 360 users get something that's a little more dumbed down than the PC version to maximize the "pleasure" of using the controllers while in the PC version the potential of the keyboard and mouse is fully used.

So really, I don't think it's possible to compare both versions unless you're talking about taste. It's like saying GTA SAN ANDREAS IS BETTER ON PC THAN PS2!! Even though they can't be compared.

The only thing different with the PC version is the plasmid interface. I don't know about the graphics.

Hmm, a dark and gloomy hi-tech shooter with horror elements such as ghostly little girls and freaky carnival-like environments...

Nope, I have never seen anything like that before!

I hate to see people think like that about BioShock, will you read a good preview if I gave you a nod in the right direction, just to change your mind? :)

Dude. Have you even read any previews at all? The concept of the game is definitely original in that it offers unlinear gameplay, choices that you have to make - it's true that it's been done before in FPS'es but only 4 or 5 times  (n)

Previews... Previews... You know as much as I that a lot of bullshit being presented in previews never make it to the actual game, right?

Here, let me help: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/video-game-article/stalker-features.php :P

Depends on the company. Irrational Games doesn't spread bullshit. Besides, the features that have been promised to be in BioShock have already been seen in vids so they're definitely in the game (if not they just took them out which would've been weird but whatever)

A good quote from the review:
Quote
BioShock isn't simply the sign of gaming realising its true cinematic potential, but one where a game straddles so many entertainment art forms so expertly that it's the best demonstration yet how flexible this medium can be. It's no longer just another shooter wrapped up in a pretty game engine, but a story that exists and unfolds inside the most convincing and elaborate and artistic game world ever conceived. It just so happens to require you to move the narrative along with your own carefully and personally defined actions. Active entertainment versus passive: I know which I prefer.

It got a 10/10 :)

Seems that I have to upgrade my rig before buying this game.

Minimum processor speed should be 2,4 Ghz and 2 Gb RAM.

I only got a 2,0 Ghz processor and 1 GB RAM.  :/

Everyone avoid any BioShock Thread on any forum, idiots started spilling spoilers everywhere.

The developers does not release spoilers. Matter of fact, they made it clear that the screenshots doesn't reveal to much of the game. -_-

He didn't say developers. Due to some confusion or whatever at the retailers, there were people who got their copy of BioShock early.

I think 3DR will be pretty safe from spoilers.. Unless there's going to be a noob/b-tard/sa-goon invasion ;)

I just got a call from my local EB Games which told me they wouldn't get in any regular BioShock Xbox360 editions on friday (I pre-ordered it, you see) so they're just gonna go ahead and give me the Special Edition for the same price, yay!

I got my copy last night and started playing.

Needless to say it's probably the best shooter I've played in quite a while :)

Try not to spoil it for me! I'm one of the unlucky european ones. ;)

This has caused some irritation:
With the release of Bioshock, the current retail and Direct2Drive clients only allow for two installs. After the two install key limit is reached, you have to manually activate the product again via telephone support. This is due to a new version of the content protection system known as SecuROM. 2K has yet to release an official statement concerning the matter. The Steam version of the game does have a more lenient policy -- One may "install", or rather, copy the content files onto two computers concurrently -- clearing Bioshock local content off one of these computers frees up a license slot.

2k responded to that:
Quote
hey guys,

first, let me say this. you DO NOT NEED TO USE THE INTERNET EVERY TIME YOU PLAY THIS GAME. it is only the first time.

second, you can uninstall and reinstall this game, and if, by chance, you have 2 computers you want to simultaneously play this game on, you also can do that.

if by some chance you are reinstalling this game without uninstalling it first, a lot, there is a chance you may have to call securom and get a key, or deactivate some older installations.

but if you upgrade your hardware next week, you'll still be able to play the game. if you revamp your system and need to reinstall bioshock, just uninstall it before you go through the overhaul, and then do your reinstall.

calling it "hardware fingerprinting" is a bit alarmist. we do not transmit any of your data to any companies.

really, the only people who will be concerned about any of these security measures are those who are rapidly putting bioshock on many pcs... if you use the game as you normally do, you won't notice this at all

I think that comment was about another issue (the "hardware fingerprinting" issue), not sure though.

No it's addressing the same thing.

a-okay!

edit:

some word from Ken Levine himself:

Quote
I've followed up on the circular email with securom and we are working on this issue. I agree, it sucks, and we need to get that sorted.

I've been told by 2k that we will.

Hopefully they'll abolish that "only 2 installs" thing..

Because it was the cool thing to do, jump on the "Praise-Bioshock" bandwagon.

That's because it's so well deserved.
Mass Effect is a damn close second. I love COD4: Modern Warfare for its incredible multiplayer. Assassin's Creed only worked for its novelty value, then it wears off quickly. Halo 3 does deserve a mention though. I enjoyed the SP-campaign thoroughly on CO-OP.

Yeah Bioshock is fantastic and if it wasn't for the Orange Box I'd say it's the best new game I've played this year.

Orange Box Portal is also one of my new favourite games!
