Title: Machinima
Post by: Puritan on November 30, 2007, 03:42:04 PM
With the better game engines that see the light of day these days, better ingame videos and animations are pouring in.
Machinima isn't exactly a new expression but it seem to be a growing arena for artists and others to show their work with graphics and game engines.

Post your Machinima URL here for the communitys amusement.

That sounds like that one I saw? Is it the one with the flamethrower dude all by him self? If it was it was funny what he did with the cow. LOL

Yeah that one. I thought it was partially sad because.. well, he was all alone, with no one to play with :(

I thought it was funny when he kept killing that red guy.

If you have a decent enough PC then yes, TF2 looks like that. But even on lower-end hardware it still looks great because of the cartoony art style. Having less details on things and no HDR or bloom or whatever doesn't make it lose it's effect.

Does it play like that? Well, only if you play against idiotic players but the gameplay would be different.

I can play HL2 (Dont have portal or episode addons) and CS:S all on the highest detail with HDR with no problem, But im guessing that TF2 uses that portal shading or what ever they are using now, Yes?

Portal shading?

Portal shading?

Doesnt portal use a slighlty modified Sorce engine?

Sure, they added a few optional possibilities to the engine. But if you can run HL2 on full everything then you should definitely be able to run TF2, Portal and EP2. I could run HL2 on full myself relatively smoothly and with The Orange Box games I just had to turn some stuff on Medium (mostly because of my inferior graphics card I think) but it worked.
