That's not my problem. If you want to know my problem read through the stickied Polymer thread at the Duke4.net forums.

Nice! Shadows do work now. But my sprite issue still remains, sadly...

I don't know the terminology, but the best I can describe it is the guitars are playing in 4/4 time. The drums play in 3/4 time, then 2/1, then 3/3, then 2/2 and then it ends up on the same end beat as the guitars (still playing in 4/4). And it loops again.

The reason it sounds off is because the drum beat is playing in different time signatures to what the guitars are playing and it keeps switching, too. It's perfectly in time (though the guitars might be a little off because I recorded them first) and perfect tempo just in a different time signature. I did it to sound complicated because I like that stuff lol. And yeah, listen to some Dream Theatre and you'll hear a lot of that (drums playing in different time signatures than the music).

I believe it's one from Episode 3 mixed with a level from Episode 4. Maybe it's one of the secret levels in Episode 3 I don't remember. I think the Episode 4 level was Going Postal, though. Should take a quick look again....

Amazing track! Love the technical drumline you put to it.

Question: you record the drums yourself, or you use a sampler like ezdrummer? If so, which one you use?

They're completely sequenced. I use EastWest StormDrum Kompakt. To record and sequence I use Cakewalk Sonar 7 Producer.

there are some major things that need to be fixed/changed before polymer is out officially.

ATI, cough cough.

I'm worried that may never happen. :)

But quite awesome!  When I hear that, I imagine Duke desperately fighting his way out of a building before the self-destruct timer reaches zero (especially starting at 1:21).  What I mean is, there is a momentum to it, a feeling of continuous action.

Hmm, you're right it does sound like that. And the music continuously builds nicely for that as well. With the right orchestration behind it it could sound very epic and dangerous.

NICE track man, you got skills!
Thank you!

I couldn't refrain from trying out an idea. This is the sort of thing I had in my head. The end bit is a little Bobby Prince inspired. This one I imagined being the first level or a real alien-rampage kind of song. Still quite rough.

Once you've gotten started and on your way I'd be happy to write a song/soundtrack for the map(s) if you'd like. Something as epic as this seems to need to have its own soundtrack. I can do guitar-driven tracks as well as MIDI-like compositions. A blend of the two styles would be pretty cool, actually. Maybe reprise a few familiar themes in certain places.

Anyway, offer's on the table if you choose to accept it later on.

Are there any new episodes or maps in Duke 64?
I don't know about you guys, but I am not too keen on re-playing the old maps with some minor tweaks here and there.

The point is to recreate Duke Nukem 64 for those who want it. It's got different weapons, some levels have new or altered areas. One map was actually a blend of two maps from the original game. It's just a different atmosphere from the original game. I'm very much looking forward to it. I think I actually enjoy Duke 64 more than "vanilla" Duke3D. I'd also be interested to see some custom maps made as well, though, taking advantage of Duke64's unique weapons and such. It's not all that different but it's different enough.

I, for one, appreciate the updates and don't mind the fact that it's from an obsolete version. At least we're getting something. It's nice to play the new maps along with the (much better) Duke64 Duke lines at last. I don't think we need to have ALL the Duke64 sounds implemented, though. I recall hearing the RPG sound effect and it was actually lower quality than the original PC equivalent..

Whenever we get the non-obsolete version I'll happily switch.

Pretty heartless, Commander.

I will play this annually on the anniversary of 3DR's demise when this is finished.

Yeah, the speed of the grenade launcher wasn't so much of a problem as the distance fired was. It was way too far.
