Yeah, it's weird, but I can go down in AMC history as the guy who went drinking beers with the Oostrum brothers and performing with them on stage! :D

It's a bit late and some fellows might have already seen the picture drop by on facebook but Maarten and I have seen eachother two times. (He happened to be around in my area for a holiday)

During the first meeting we just had a bunch of coffees in the little town he was staying. Considering that we're both musicians it was inevitable that the second meeting took place in a barn with our guitars and keyboards. :)

But oh, considering that this is AMC: Although we didn't had much to discuss regarding mapping for duke, the brief moment we did felt really weird. It's really weird to use the word 'Sector Effector' in public. :P

Anyways, it was really cool!

I like it! I'm not a jazz-expert (aside from having a CD from Herbie Hancock and Erroll Garner) but this is definitely soothing. :)

Everytime I zap through MTV I never actually get to see video clips. It's always ridiculously fake 'reality-tv'. The least I could expect from that channel is to have some shitty emo-band playing but even those days are gone!

I really wonder what kind of conversations people in the exec room are having other than laughing their asses off. :D

Is THAT duke? :o

The remark is fresh as every time. But seriously, it looks awesome. Not bad for an engine which has it's roots back in the early nineties. Looks like the new effects are finally being put to good use. :)

Too bad I can't play it though; I still need to get my hands on some next-gen hardware. Still using my GeForce 200mx from 2000 here. :D

I remember that I was completely oblivious to the 'Really Ready Room' up until like three or four years ago. That whole star trek secret completely passed me by.

Cool thread idea. I guess I don't need to feel ashamed anymore. :D

Here, this is how the old start-up screen looks like.

Now go install Eduke32. ;)

Always ask for compensation on transport costs! Unless the organisers are cocky faggots or you get to do a really cool gig (radio or a great festival) it's never a bad thing to ask for this. :)

Tomorrow night I'm heading for the hospital to visit a high school girlfriend who has suffered from panic attacks. Kinda sucks; she's been there before two years ago and I really thought she was doing rather well.

Dog related epic.

That's a nice story. It put a much-needed smile on my face. Especially considering that I have a dog myself; you easily become affected to those buggers. :)

You guys seem to have a great lot of fun in Calculated. I checked out some videos in your youtube channel. Cool to see you guys having gigs nowadays; lot's of "alto's" in the audience, I see? So familiar! ;)

Our graduation project (me and a fellow student from my school) was rated an 8 out of 10 and has been nominated for a award. The project consisted of researching data matching and deduplication, and the implementation of the results into a new software tool.

I'm quite happy with it although the final presentation of my research results was a big letdown; the jury was constantly asking out-of-scope questions which didn't make sense. Naturally I wasn't able to respond firmly to them and I haven't been able to lift my grade.

So I have finished my education and I'm now actually steerless! I could turn into a welfare sucking leech now if I don't do anything.

I've had a few appointments with candidate employers and I must say that there are quite a few companies which have shown interest in me. I'm not really afraid of not having a job somewhere in September again by now. The hardest part is deciding what kind of company I want to work at.

Big companySmall company
PRO: Good for becoming a specialistPRO: Good for becoming a all-round guru
PRO: Lot's of learning facilities & paid masterclassesCON: Not a lot of growing possibilities
CON: Chance of becoming a cogPRO: Get treated as a human being
CON: Get to work on tiny fragments of projectsPRO: Get to work on a share of a project with enough room for innovation

I must say that working at a big company has the largest appeal to me since I don't feel like going back to school but still want to obtain more knowledge. I have a few offers open in both categories. Gah, choices.

I have never really investigated Black Sabbath but it's surely a great loss. I liked his vocals on Stargazer by Rainbow.

Hah, yeah, I noticed this on the news earlier on. I have the entire Tintin collection in my possession ever since I was a kid. I actually looked it up in my bookcase and I can understand why this man finds it offensive.

But banning books is just wrong. I'd say, reissue it with a disclaimer and call it a day. If won, cases like this can only set an example for censorship on satire, and I presume we all know what happened last week!

Anyways, I feel like I'm 10 years old again! Browsing through those comic books was major nostalgic moment. :D
