Never saw this topic...

Some amazing memories:

-DooM, first time you meet a pinky demon. I was a little kid and those roars just scared the hell out of me :P
-Duke Nukem, first level :)
-Unreal, the part where the lights go out one by one and the skaarj attacks. The FPS games I played before Unreal never had scripted sequences, I never expected such a thing to happen.
-Doom3, introduction of the pinky demon. Man, it's one of the best monster introductions ever!   And hell of course.
-Half-life, the first time those tentacles appear (and many other scenes).

I think it might be, in no particular order, in Duke3D, Resident Evil, FFVIII and VII, and Half Life...

I remember crying the day i finished Resident Evil 1 on saturn.
And i must have cried in FFVII and VIII and HL too but don't remember exactly....

Walking out of the crash-landed Vortex Rikers in the beginning of the second level in Unreal...

The first levels of Half-Life 2...

Every room of Memoria in FFIX- full of emotions...

When Cloud loses his sanity at the bottom of the crater in FFVII...

Approaching the demon in the final level of Doom 3 (although the boss itself is a dissappointment)...

Uninstalling Daikatana...

Not "cried" but at least had a tear or two getting out of my eyes because the game was too awesome at the time.

I remember being totally amazed by HL when I played it the first time. There was no FPS with such a developped in-game and immersive story before that. Unreal was immersive too, but you never met human NPC's, wherever you go they were dead allready. This became a bit too hard to believe near the end (alltough reading all those transator messages was a nice touch).

Finishing Star Trek: Starfleet Academy
It was so frustrating going through some of the 20 plus levels at a fast pace and then spending several days trying to solve a problem that is solved after doing something different than beforehand so it was a relief to finally pass it

The very first time I launched up Duke3D [in 1998], the liztroops looked like they were real to me back then :P

And yeah Half-Life 2 ofcourse.

Funny that you miss one thing. Let's clear the things out. Half Life wasn't the first deep FPS game. Goldeneye on N64 was :P

Indeed. It'd be the System Shock series.

Some months (maybe one year) ago i bought Goldeyene with a friend because we heard everybody saying "OMG THAT'S THE BEST FPS EVER !!11". We found it so crap that we were laughing our asses off. (well you are right, it was a good gaming moment  :), but because it was funny)

In the 1998 or even 1997 when Goldeneye came out it was true masterpiece. PC had only some Q2 at the moment. In Goldeneye you could plant bombs, shoot cameras, rescue hostages, take photos of secret Russian satelites, blow up the rockets, ride a tank. Tell me it wasn't revolutionary in that years ! It was one of the best games ever, and VERY high marks on Gamespot and everywhere just prove that. And Goldeneye went before Half-Life !
