Gunman Chronicles
« on: September 07, 2003, 04:33:12 AM »
You know this mod? It's awesome! It has different episodes: a sort of temple, alien shit, rocky episode etc. It's a Half-Life mod but still it has his own things. :) - and that place where you must avoid that dinosaur = w00t! Too bad in the end I got a bit bored of this game... never played it to the end. I don't have it anymore on my computer tho.

Yeah Gunman's pretty good, the Tank section is great! Although it does get a bit boring on occasions, everything does so. ;)

Oh and I forgot to say: I like the story line - and that whole "movie" in the begining is so cool.. It's like you're in the game.

Yeah Gunman was pretty decent right up until the end. Then it got a little to hard in the end. Keeping the Xenomes off the mech at the end is a exercise in tedium. Though I do like the just deserts given to the General.

Maybe sometime during the school year we should try to set up a Gunman multiplayer match. It would be quite hillarious probably. Someone would get the rocket launcher and then spam the rooms after tweaking its settings. Personally I'd use the pistol... (with upgrade kit of course)

It's a good game, the enemies are not all the same and the story is pretty good (if I recall it right there where: dinosaurs, aliens, enemy robots and enemy humans). I really liked the second episode where you have to escape from that Xenome infested planet. Only thing I didn't really like was the end. I actually never played it right to the end. It became so difficult to protect that droid that I lost interest. It was cool to let that alpha species escape tho. :D

So I can guess the end myself: the general gets swallowed by that monster just like in the intro-movie. :P

Gunman's intro is soooo ripped off from the original HL but hell it's even more annoying than HL's version. The game itself is "ok".

I bought Gunman awhile ago when I got my new computer put together and my Geforce Ti card. Only played around 10 minutes of it, don't know why, either I got bored of it, it wasn't acting normal, or I just forgot about it.

Never bought it because it scored only around 70 points.

Gunman Chronicles was not a mod, it was its own game. The only relation to Half-Life was by its engine.

Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't judge games by what other critics say. I really enjoyed the space element, and how Half-Life achieved it. A very good game, with only a few things I'd change. Give it a break... it was developed by people all over the world.

I played it until the end. But that mechanical planet stuff was just too long.

Anyways the levels really had an arcade game feeling, because every area looked pretty the same. It's not a big deal of course but I like the concept of the original HL more. Simply because you couldn't expect what you would get in the next room. Weapons in the game was pretty fun as far I can remember. Those fists were pretty nice (should have been into normal HL too :P).

Anyways, worth trying and playing but I shouldn't buy it. Get it on burned CD.

I bought it because I could get it for 10 euros few years ago.

It's nothing too compelling or unique, but a nice combination of various themes and fun to play. I just think they should've used the dinosaur theme more (I was kinda expecting to see some Jurassic Park style adrenaline pumped fleeing and sneaking through some corridors with deadly velociraptors around).

What's with this "last edited" stuff that has appeared in half of the replies in this topic?
