He said it was based on the design in mirror’s edge. He didn’t strictly say that the image itself was from mirror’s edge  icon_wink.gif

why would he say mirrors edge and then post a picture of a completely different game

it's perfectly ok to be mistaken sometimes

 :HELLO:

also you need to play mirrors edge, even if 1st person platforming isn't your cup of tea it's still one of the best looking games ever created and is worth seeing for the visual design alone. I haven't played the sequel/reboot/whatever yet, I do want to at some point.

I have played a few hours of mirror’s edge. I got to some kind of combat section that I couldn’t get past without dying, and haven’t returned to it since. As we all know, the combat is by far the weakest part of the game.

Started playing Hexen 2; it's one of those games I missed in the late '90s. The game has this hub system that revolves around a shit-ton of backtracking and fetching various items. The level design isn't the most intuitive either, so it makes the whole thing feel like a lot of work.

Hexen 1 also had a hub-system which I didn't really care for at all. Felt confusing most of the time and eventually gave up on it.

I've always preferred Heretic over Hexen anyway.

I don't think I ever even played the first Hexen, and even with Heretic I only played the first map. (I had to google which one is which actually.)

Finished Hexen 2. Pretty meh overall, felt like a Quake Total Conversion.

Yeah, I like to do surprise releases. Not much of a fan with hyping up shit especially with something short epilogue-like such as Abeyance. Hope you'll like it.

Just checked it out, nice stuff (y) I definitely felt some Silent Hill 4 influences in the room there, it was a nice epilogue to Jane Doe's story. If I find some time I'll play through the whole trilogy again.

Thanks. Yeah, the apartment were pretty much ripped straight out of Silent Hill 4 down to the layout although the scale is a bit bigger just to make navigation a bit smoother.

The boot camp part were also based on the boot camp from Full Metal Jacket.

If I find some time I'll play through the whole trilogy again.

I've thought about combining all three mods into one single mod so you get full experience at once instead of having to swap between them. 11 maps is a pretty solid number too.

So after playing through Black Flag last year, now I've started a more recent Assassin's Creed title - Origins, from 2017.

It drew my attention because they took the time to change up some mechanics and while it's still unmistakably an AC game, the combat system has been made a bit more challenging. It now requires you to actively dodge and change targets rather than "Press X to counter and kill enemies one by one" as it used to be in earlier games. However there's no fatigue system in place it seems so you can just spam the dodge key, get hits in, and be alright. It's an improvement but could be made more challenging.

Also they removed the minimap, instead having a horizontal compass like Skyrim (which you can disable as well, which I did, the game looks to be playable without it). Good stuff because it forces you to immerse yourself in the game world more. In previous games when it came to treasure hunting I would just stare at the minimap the whole time. Now you press a key that briefly shows their location as objective markers on the screen, disappearing after a few seconds. Works really well.

Also, the game is pretty:

Finished Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, clocked 11 hours.

The game is, overall, a quite great adventure through a variated set of environments and in which you fight some awesomely looking enemies, which behave not as great as they look but still good enough. Combat is for the most, quite enjoyable and satisfying, and the settings helps enhacing the experience, but there are a few things which arent as great, still acceptable.

Enemies look tremendous, but it doesn´t make sense that you can put them down so easily at times. I believe their visual design is among the most solids around (of all games i have played at least) they are like tank-tranformers, or beefy Darth Vaders with stocky armors but you still can put them down with a single pistol headshot, or you can take down a bus-sized mech with a "toughest guy in town" look relying only on shotguns and machineguns.

Gameplay is relatively hard and good, although i missed better tactical situations. The game relies on a quite repetitive trick, you enter a new area and you have to go through it either by stealth until you can kill the commanders or either unleashing hell by going the rambo way. If you chose that, or inevitably fail stealth at some point, you end up fighting waves of enemies, which makes it way too action-packed. Instead, Finding the commanders and killing them before they ring the alarm makes it a lot easier, but stealth is simply very basic and boring to bother. Also, you will find 1 ton of ammo, health and armor in every corner you come across, so its not like it makes any sense to go crouching and using the pistol, unless you want to miss the fun. Some weapons are simply better than others and there isn´t a single time -ever- you will have to save ammo, so you can go through the whole game with only one weapon like I did.

It´s a visually pleasant game, technology is top notch, the grand scheme is quite great, detailing of environments is the best i have seen yet (dishonored 2 demo looked maybe better, but i have to play the whole game first), animations in the cutscenes are very good, friendly characters are wacky though, the game expects you to like them, but you can only wish them death (I would have losed the game just to see those clowns die). And there´s an special note for that, during the whole game, it will constantly ruin the atmosphere with over the top cutscenes, very very very evil enemies (like in Austin Powers) and very very very good and friendly allies (like religions). It would have been simply a much better game if it was stripped off all that ala doom 2016.

conclusion

There aren´t quite as many games in which you go through variated situations like Duke Nukem 3D or Half-Life 2 anymore these days. So this kind of stuff is really welcome, even if it comes with its hysteric story, which tried all the time so hard to be cool that it didn´t work at all. even then, because of the enormous work behind it, the game is quite great.
