I decided to put up a little info on this here project.

-------------------------

Story

It seems like the cliché story of a space station. “The Orion Station has gone out of the range of Earth’s radio contact, so we now have sent a military group to the station to investigate why it fired its thrusters to move away.” Our leader, General Barthson, told me that I and several members of the platoon are being sent to the Orion Station. We’d all been given these crappy plasma guns and a dagger.

They’d skipped the briefing and decided just to send us up there. I, just like the other group members, was clueless as to what our objectives were, when we’re to reach, where the station is, and what the structure of the station is. All I know is we lost contact with the station and we’re the pigeons being sent up to check it out. I hope this is a good estimate of the possible problem. I’m referring to the fact that they only sent eight of us. Supposedly we’re “the best of the best” and we just happened to be right there for the picking.

Those idiots... they decided to push us into different pods to send. One thing I knew is that to get through this I had to find the others. I found them... but instead of seven comrades I found nineteen. Whatever’s aboard this ship, it was expecting us and it was powerful. I knew this because I saw a slaughtered... thing... at the door of my port when I stepped into the station. It stunk of rotted flesh and I knew it had been sitting there for some time.

I looked around and, on the floor beside the beast and suffering, one of my comrades looked up to me, with red eyes and crimson flowing from his nose and mouth, and he spoke his last words. “They were waiting for us...” Confirmation of my theory. I couldn’t take seeing him suffer. I pulled out my plasma pistol and aimed it at him. He stared back with understanding eyes and a slight grin. I ended his pain.

I wandered the docking area I was in. The place was oddly familiar. For a split second, a blue light blinded me and suddenly I’m in that same area, except that the area is full of people. These people walked around as if nothing happened. I saw one of the monsters appear from nowhere. It fired a quick laser blast at one of the technicians. The technician fell bloody with a thud and a shriek of panic broke out. The blue light faded and I was standing alone again in that dreadful place. I didn’t know what was going on, but I had a feeling I was gonna find out soon enough.

Now I’m to make my way through that fateful door that may lead to my demise. If I am not seen again alive, know that I fought down to the last cell.

Orders

In each mission, your orders are first listed on your headset in the start. Later as the game progresses they'll be updated when appropriate. Should you lose contact with the EDF, there are some standard orders that you must go by:

-Do not kill any civilians unless they are a threat.
-Kill any and all life forms that pose a threat.
-Do not damage any of the ship unless necessary to move on in the mission.
-You are permitted to comandeer any necessary vehicles or weaponry to complete your goals.
-Protect the Core at all costs, even if it means sacrificing your own life.
-Should you be in a position where you are likely to be captured, suicide is necessary to prevent questioning.
-Update any EDF forces on the ship with these orders and enlist them as your own troops. Any questioning of your authority must be dealt with. If it comes to taking a new group without your permission, the offender must be terminated immediately.

Arsenal

Dagger- Primitive weapon used in close combat when you’re fresh out of real firepower.

Plasma Pistol- Fires a small laser that can do moderate damage to weaklings. It has an infinite ammo supply. You can even pick up a second!

Scrapper- This shotgun-like weapon uses splitting uranium slugs. These pellets will explode on contact with any surface.

Plasma Rifle- This weapon utilizes a large battery cell to make a constant stream of laser energy.

Plasma Shell Launcher- The compact weapon of choice for taking out multiple targets in a medium-sized space.

Plasma Grenade- Use this weapon in secret and do so carefully. If you can’t keep track of it, it’s all done for you.

Havoc Rifle- The main function is a powerful blast of concentrated energy packed up in a neat little metallic bundle. The other is a simple automatic rifle.

Positron Burner- Originally used as a tool for repairing broken pipes and metallic objects, the positron burner releases a lethal positron bolt that can melt a Stomdrant in under a second.

Enemies

Hatchskull- The basic Mlathropian drone, these small buggers pack a Plasma Pistol. Just one alone isn't much a challenge, but a pack of them can be quite a group to handle.

Commander- Somewhat higher than the standard Mlathropian drone, Commanders display a blue suit and have a Havoc Rifle. Just as weak, but twice as demanding to kill.

Stomdrant- Beware of his stinging laser rifle and lethal agility. He strafes, jumps, and sometimes engages in hand-to-hand combat, but he goes down easy when hit. Also notice his reload timing.

Shepherd- The guard dogs on the Orion Station were found useful by the Mlathropians. Their brains were replaced with computers and then given two phase laser cannons mounted on their sides.

Splatters- Spider-like little monstrosities that explode into a slimey mess when they run into their target.

Crazed Guard- They're paranoid and armed with a conventional shotgun. Since a lot of the people on the Orion Station were killed, they're going to kill anyone and anything that is either alien or armed. Sometimes you'll get the chance to calm them down. If not, orders are orders...

Gluttrant- As his name implies, he is a fat monster that mopes around stupidly. His only reasons for being a threat are that he can take a lot of ammunition and he belches dissipating fireballs as weapons.

Stormdrant- Don’t get him confused with a Stomdrant... a Stormdrant is often found in areas where plasma is in large supply. He harnesses the surrounding energy into a powerful ball of energy.

Juggernaut- A monster armed with a Scrapper and suited with thick, metallic junk as protection.

Episodes

The episodes are split into sectors of the ship. Proceeding to each episode requires the PIN number at the end of the previous episode, except for the Alpha sector.

Training Level- This is the only level to take place on Earth.
Sector Alpha- The outer ring surrounding the major parts of the Orion Station.
Sector Beta- These are the main docks beyond the defense ring.
Sector Gamma- Main civilian zones are located here.
Sector Delta- Scientific studies are performed in this area.
Sector Omega- This is the area just around the Core.

I'm at a road block right now. Since I switched to EDuke 2.1, most of the code I had was wiped clean. I'm tired of working alone on this now.

This is a general idea of how I want the HUD to look.

The first blue box is health. Green numbers means good condition, yellow numbers means midlle condition, red numbers means terrible condition, white numbers mean really good condition (101+), and grey numbers means you're bleeding to death (10-). Yes, you will actually start bleeding all over the place when your health is at ten points and you'll start to lose health over time. This HUD box is permanent.

The second blue box is your clips left and your total ammo left. The GYR color scheme applies to your ammo number only; the clip number remains white. This box is permanent.

The red box is the armor amount. GYR takes effect here, as well. This box is only visible when armor is present. It will slide from 'under' the first blue box in the downward direction.

The green box is inventory. It shows the icon of the inventory item and the percentage left. Only on-screen when there is some sort of inventory item present. Slides from 'under' the two blue boxes, going southeast.

The long box with the numbers is the weapons. Orion TC will likely only have 9 weapons. Each number represents a weapon; white numbers are weapons currently in stock and the grey numbers are weapons that are not yet picked up. The lights on the bottom of the bar change; a green light corresponds with the selected weapon. This box only appears when a weapon is picked up for five seconds or when switching between weapons. It slides from 'under' the blue boxes to the right.

Note that this is a concept example, guys. Don't expect this to be the HUD.

Thanks guys. I think we might have a winner when I'm able to edit the HUD.

The HUD is nice. Very different from what we are used to see in Duke Tcs. Be sure you choose the right color combination to have a futurist look ! ;)
