I've heard good things about that movie, it's supposed to be very lovecraftian.
That's always a plus. :)

Unfortunately, it's not in cinema's over here (yet).

Saw Fast and Furious 8 the other day. It was an enjoyable movie, a bit better than 7 IMO as the plot was a bit tighter and the stakes felt higher. Apparently there's going to be two more movies, but I'm not sure where they can take the franchise after all that's happened.

Meh, I was dragged to see that movie and I spent half of the movie in a coma (i.e., every time there was a scene dealing with cars), and Theron overacted her role.

I never got that impression, she always seemed calm and restrained.

It seems like you're not a fan of cars in movies, why did you see it?

As I implied, I accompanied a friend to see the movie.

That "calm and restrained" was the overacting. She overdid the calm, arrogant psychopath thing. It lacked nuance.

I for one love cars, powerful engines, and races, and found all Fast and Furious movies (and their derivates) to be ridiculously stupìd and over the top.

Aliens Covenant. There were some mythology-related revelations that I'm still digesting, so I don't know whether I love them, hate them or whether I'm somewhere in between, but as far as the creature(s) itself goes, the alien is finally back where it belongs, utterly hostile for the sake of nothing but hostility. This movie is not only gory as fuck but creepy and disturbing as well. The last 30-50 minutes are just plain awesome.

Seriously, fuck Star Wars..

Great to hear, I want to see that ASAP. By the way, I have not seen Prometheus. Does it matter?

Well, the movie is a sequel to Prometheus, so it definitely matters. That being said, the key events of the first are made pretty clear in Covenant.

I'm pretty annoyed at how what feels like half the movies I want to see this year are coming out around the month I'm busy travelling to the US.

Can't you just watch them in the US, or is your every day here too scheduled to allow that?

My schedule is pretty tight. I mean I'll just be freely wandering around the place, but when you've only got 2 days in Washington, 3 days in New York etc etc every hour counts. Even if I miss the movies in cinemas they'll come out eventually.

Saw John Wick 2 which for some reason only came out a few days ago in Australia. Normally movies come out here even before the US, but a release date here wasn't even announced when the movie first came out. Good movie for sure, although it kind of sets up a sequel at the end.
