New live version of 42

Another cool gig, and the crowd seemed to enjoy it alot :)
It's funny to see every bandmember go wild.. except for our bassplayer.   ^_^

And, to please The Commander, I'm the monster, from the same gig was played and filmed too :P

LOL idk why I bump this topic, but what the heck why not..

Professionally filmed material of Calculated!

Go to www.20minutes.nl, scroll down to the video that says 'Calculated' and click!
The site is in Dutch, but the bandname is above the video.
There are LOADS of close-ups of me and my brother, you can take this either as an extra reason to watch or as a warning.  :P

The video lasts 22 minutes, the songs we played are: 42, Delaying, Into the dirt and Souls (in that order).

I'm pretty proud of our band when I see us perform like this, so enjoy and leave some comments!  :)

Why you play the guitar with the gross cords at the bottom? Are you left handed and learned to play with a right-handed guitar?

EDIT: The sound´s quality helps to enjoy your music better. It sounds a lot better than in other videos of course  (y)

It's pretty interesting though that, even though it's not really your cup of tea, you do keep clicking on the links I post. ;) That's not meant as an insult or anything and I think that's pretty cool actually. It's just something I noticed.

You already answered your own question. I know it looks kinda weird at first, but this is how I learned and the only way I feel comfortable playing guitar.. and as long as it sounds good, who cares right? :p

Thanks, and I agree. The weak sound quality really take the other vids down a bit, which is exactly the reason why we chose to do this.  (y)

Well yeah, even though it never has been my kind of thing and possibly never will be I do feel like I have to check out stuff from people I "know" and all. :P And show some sense of support :D

Cool, sounds a bit like Metallica, especially the slow parts (not that I'm into that sort of stuff).

Btw, is the integral your official logo or something?

Really? I only thought the few heavy parts seemed Metallica-ish and thats it :) We're mostly inspired by prog-rock bands and/or bands from the seventies when synthesizer/keyboards and quite some use  of vocal harmony was more common :P

It's really cool to see you guys comment, as we "know" you for years with the community (I admit, posts of me these days are rare, but I still check the forums when I've the little spare time) :P

The integral is only the band shirt we always use, you can see it as a logo, but we never planned a real official logo actually....lol :D

Thanks again!

Cool! Not a perfect performance, but very nice music nonetheless. BTW, you guys should work on your voice a bit. I hope that didn't offend you, please take it as constructive criticism :)

PS: Loved your T-shirts :P

I actually think the vocals are pretty good...but not as strong as the other elements (composition, instrumentals).  I'm guessing they would be perfectly happy to have a specialist doing the vocals so they could focus on the other stuff, but I could be wrong.

That's interesting, people usually cite the vocals (and, more particulary, the 2 part harmonies) as one of the strongest points of the band. Everyone has a different opinion though, and thanks for sharing yours!  -_-

BTW, this performance is actually already 3 months old, and the band has already improved since then, vocals included. You can check the latest performance of 'Into the dirt' and compare if you're interested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnzrFhzKmQc
(sound quality is again a lot weaker though)

Nah, we already have the perfect line-up for this kind of music now. Adding more people probably wouldn't be a good idea. Besides, I'm writing the lyrics and I don't want someone else to sing them since they have a personal meaning for me.

No offense again, but I think the vocals are out of tune many times in the first video

Anyway, I definitely heard some improvement in the second video.

IMHO the strongest points of your band is the keyboard and composition. Guitar is also good.

None taken, but I think that's very exaggerated.. And I'm actually a lot less confident about my guitar abilities then my vocals.. oh well let's agree to disagree here. :p

Hey guys, I could use your help: we're in a band competition called 'Best band of holland', and we can use your vote!

Click on this link: http://www.ffcentraal.nl/band-best-band-of-holland/calculated and click on the big button on the left that says 'STEM' (which means 'vote' in dutch).

Also, you can vote again every day!

Since I'm posting anyway, here's a little compilation of our most recent gig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_VrwmP7nCE.

Filmed by someone in the audience, so the sound quality isn't the best.. but it has some really cool bits and footage from our newest song 'New horizons'.
