That they might not make their release date and he's bummed by it, obviously.

Well not really because EP3 never had a release date so far :o

What is it that you want to say there weebl?

I was saying that Sang was right.
Hopefully Valve doesn't stuff up the last episode. If they do then i'm sure EVERYONE will be pissed since everyone that has played the original half-life has been waiting for so many questions to be answered that if their reply is "And Gordon Freeman Dies by a head crab and the game ends" Then yeah... say good bye to steam!

I've always had the impression that there will be a formal Half-Life 3 in the future (I know Gabe Newell likes to call the three episodes "Half-Life 3" but I'm not buying that) and that Episode 3 will just conclude the HL2 story arc. What that means, I don't know. By ending the story arc I suppose they'll leave behind all or most of the HL2 characters and stuff like that. Dunno how they could achieve that - I guess only if the G-Man will put Gordon in stasis again or something like that.

Somehow i can't see them working on a game for longer than the original Half-life 2. True they have improved the graphics\map editor and coding dramatically. But if they do want to make Half-Life 3 then they will end up making a different game before so they have a fresh memory.
Thats just what i think.

I think he means HL 3 would be made using a diff engine, Or at least thats what I think that means.

Well yeah they would use a much more improved engine; but.
You know when you keep working on a map for ages and you THINK you have everything made, and then you release it and then end up going:
"Oh shit i could have done this, that and that!"

Well what Valve could do is try and make Half-Life 3 using a different engine but try and keep everything different and fresh rather than repeating the other games which is what Episode 1 and Lost Coast were (Yes i know Lost Coast is a test game for the engine).

It's so obvious that they will use a new engine, that I just can't have any doubts about it. They "repeat" because the episodes are suppossed to be "expansions" of HL2. I'm sure HL3 will be different to it.

How so? They could just heavily update the Source engine so it looks more "next-gen" (or current-gen, whatever). I don't think that HL3 will be a photorealistic game though. Maybe.. we'll see.

Photo-realism is over-rated, boring, and ugly. Give me vibrant colours any day.

There are, but not always. What MI is talking about is that hyper-realistic look some games have, which I'm also a big fan off. Mirror's Edge pops to mind :)

I think it's not overrated and ugly. It's simply a matter of tastes.
