LEBuild - an advanced map editor for DN3D
« on: December 26, 2008, 03:39:12 AM »
That's an unique product which had been developed and is currently being accomplished by me. LEBuild (spelt out as Lezing Entertainment Build) lets you achieve another grade of mapping and, possibly, reveal the whole potential of Build engine. By some aspects it is similar to Build and Mapster32, but it isn't based on them. The general distinctions are the GUI and powerful tools including the built-in scripting system. Now the editor has been updated to 1.0.3 version featuring several fixes and additions. Some problems are still present, and I hope I'll be able to improve my product going by some of your remarks and suggestions... I know it's sorta difficult to get the feel of... besides, one should keep in mind that this program is written in VB and sometimes works a bit laggy (though the GUI is much faster than in most applications).

The archive file is available on the LEBuild's page: http://lzg.duke4.net/leb10.htm

The editor is horrible imo, and would serve no purpose to someone that has used Build or Mapster for there whole lives because your one as very little ENGLISH support and makes no sense to look at.

I recall i took a look to it after reading a thread at 3dr about some map broken that you´ve fixed using LEbuild. Some features seems to be quite interesting as editing sectors, walls or sprites in a separated way. Still i think you should improve it with a full screen mode (if it already exists, my bad) and with a better rendering system for 3d mode, cos it was quite 8bit-ish and laggy. I dont know if i would start a map from scratch using this editor but for some special constructions and debuging is great.  (y)

You can go fullscreen by hitting Alt+Enter like in many applications... Moreover, the editor was designed for the full screen - thence the lack of the window title bar and small-scale fonts.

The source code is now available for downloading.

Not long ago I sent LEBuild sources to somebody via Skype... He planned to implement a new renderer for the 3D mode and customizable hotkeys, but I dunno anything about his progress now.

Maybe I'll get at accomplishing the English help as well.

I installed Lebuild today because i removed the old one. My antivirus says it has the TR.Dropper/Gen trojan, and i read in your site this may happen but I dont really want to take the risk of launching it. I remember having a previous installment with which this didn´t happen. Do you have it somewhere?

I didn't experience that myself but some people reported having this issue. I didn't take note because my antivirus wasn't able to detect any malware. But now I've recompiled my executable and found a slight difference as compared with one I am using. However, that is a revision with some minor fix which I never released before.

What I found strange is that my current executable contains two "This program cannot be run in DOS mode" captions, what probably means that there's one more program inside my executable. The recompiled one contains only one such caption in the beginning (so does the executable released on my site).

http://lzg.duke4.net/leb103i.rar
Nevertheless, I've uploaded an archive with the recompiled executable, so you can check it and say if it contains any shit. If the problem resolves, I'll repack a new executable into all LEBuild archives.

Well, it seems to be a false alarm... also, here's what TerminX had said about this earlier:

That's a generic signature that can be triggered by stuff like packed executables, et cetera.

I tried to put the file in the ignore list. But my antivir doesn´t allow me to launch it, unless I disable the protection completely.

I would send the file to Avira so they can workaround the problem, if i´d know how.
