Red Alert: A Path Beyond
« on: January 25, 2009, 12:01:04 AM »
"Red Alert: A Path Beyond is a total conversion modification of Electronic Arts' and Westwood Studios' first-person shooter, Command & Conquer: Renegade. Designed for online play, it is led by a team of skilled programmers, 3D modelers, and 3D artists. Whereas Renegade itself was set in Westwood's Tiberian Dawn storyline, Red Alert: A Path Beyond immerses the player in the Red Alert Universe, including elements from the expansion packs (Aftermath and Counterstrike) of this classic RTS".

It is totally free and all you have to do is install it make a name, change the settings and away you go.
you can download it for free from here:http://www.apathbeyond.com  . And get the beta 2 full version 1.2.0.

It will save everything you do. And you earn recommendations and medals as well, as you can see in my stats: http://apb.mp-gaming.com/index.php?act=player&name=ocelot

Here is a vid of the trailer: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=05cf2WPJ98w

I love this mod/tc game. I play it almost 24/7. I probably would have Duke Theft Auto done by now if I stoped playing this so much. :o

It also has all the C&C Red Alert music too which is awesome. And the fact that its so team based is great too.
Heres another video of the gameplay.

If enough people here at AMC had it we could join a private server and have AMC Wars. lolz

That’s right.. if we gets a few people on there from here we will be able to make our own clan on there. But be warned that the clan wars are only threw the spring and summer months. Winter is very quiet because all the kids are at school

Well, I didn't really mean a Clan as such, just friendly war games as AMC as a whole and one of them non-used servers.

You didn't say why we should care about it. Why is it so good?

It looks really empty and just visually uninteresting, but I'm sure the gameplay's great.

Because it is very addictive like smoking lol, and the team work part is great.

It looks really empty and just visually uninteresting, but I'm sure the gameplay's great.

Im not sure what you mean exactly on how it looks empty ect. I have not come across anything empty while playing it, and visually this game is using the renegade engine so you can't expect UT graphics. :P
But yes the gameplay is great.

EDIT: Most of the pictures/videos shown are from an older version if that makes any difference.

I played it last night with ocelot and it just wasn't my cup of tea. The combat was pretty unsatisfying and the graphics were really ghetto. Saying that it's got a ranking system and stuff so if you dig stuff like that then give it a try - it's not too steep of a download (500mb)

If its the graphics that are one of your concerns James there bringing out a gamma version soon when they have finished it.. But it’s the people that you play with that makes it interesting. Last night they just stormed off and it can be very quick paced

I always thought if you turn on the Blue Hell advance graphic options and put them on high ect that the graphics are good enough...  :/

I mean I see some people conplain that the graphics are to much for there PC. :o (hate to see what they are running if thats the case)

hmm yeah i don’t think James turned (both) the graphic panels up. But graphics aren’t everything though. i mean, i still think that MGS1 is the greatest game out there and look at the graphics on there
