Notos (straight from the grave)
« on: July 19, 2009, 03:52:31 AM »
I found an old map in the middle of virtual nowhere, called Notos. The author is called Martin Mirejovski.

Link: http://www.doommap.cz/download/dukemap.htm

It's actually a good looking map, there were some locations I really liked. The gameplay is typical, could have used more variety on monsters (and again Pigcops in space sigh...) Enjoy.

Wouldn't call it good looking - way too many misaligned textures and cramped hallways. It really seemed quite sloppy, but there were some interesting locations as you said and it had a good flow. It just should've been polished.

I dunno, cramped hallways makes sense in space maps, and the only thing I hated about the design are those ugly mirror replacements in the bathroom.

My only real complaint is the gameplay, it would have been better. There were no need of so many power ups and shotgun shells, more diversity in the enemy balance would have been better too. Just for fun, I decided to spice up the gameplay, and uploaded this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3JZNDJE2

On the other hand the dark power station style locations looked cool.

Maybe you mistook this for a Duke3D forum?

Kinda average map. Very uneven. Some places lack shading. The texturing is very simple but it's only a problem in repetitive corridors.
