can't believe it

Sooner than expected. ;)

I'll direct one question to cyborg directly: Do you plan on making your port all new or will you use Eduke source as the starting point? I would recommend the second option, as most of the stuff in there is what the new expanded con port will require...

Not directly; I can't code so it would be worthless for me to do it. I will however be using the next version if someone creates it.

He told me he was not going to use Eduke nor even have Eduke compatibility except maybe with afew things since he hated the way Matt did stuff. And based on what he's told me he is going to do he is completely justified and correct in doing so. I can't wait to get my hands on Cyborg's cons.

Basically that is true. However due to uni I can't really spend any time until after my exams on this stuff. If anyone is interested in the source but is not a confident programmer I can however point them in the correct direction in order to achieve what they want.
I will look at the Eduke code to see how Matt added per actor variables in particular. Otherwise I will not be sticking to the format.
Why?
Essentially the way Eduke works is completely in line with the CON code - however the CON langauge isn't that powerful. Hence I want to redesign fundamentally the way the CON parser works to give far more power especially in complex expressions (which are currently highly inefficient).

That's ok by me. But can we expect all of Eduke's current and in-work functionality will also be covered by your port? Stuff like high-res menus, weapons etc. -- or should I stick crap like this in the wanted features list as well?

If you plan on adding low-level access then why you need a list of features?

It will be more efficient to excture common function calls through hard coded mechanisms rather than the user programming them in the cons - the feature list also helps me if there's something I forgot to consider.

Yeah hardcoding features is a good idea. But youll have to make them fully customizable to the user or well have just another restricted port

No - the point is that you can use hardcoded functions to return specific values but you are not restricted to create your own stuff. Common stuff would relate to movement (particle physics), sector/wall/sprite manipulation and sin/cos and other trig functions and such which you'd need a table for to effect efficiently.
